Retreat

Yesterday we went to Maynooth College For our retreat. I wasn't sure what it would be like because I heard different things about it. We got the bus to the college in the morning and when we got there we walked through the campus to an older building. We got in and organised the chairs in the room into a circle and the the people who were doing our retreat introduced themselves. We started off playing some games where we all linked together and people had to come around and drag everyone apart and a few others. That took up the first part of the morning then we had a ten minute break and went back. For the second part of it we all got into groups and were given different questions to talk about, When we had talked about them we all got back into a circle and they went around and asked one person in every group to talk about their question and answer, then they went around the room and asked if anyone else had an opinion and that went on for the rest of the day because everyone had a lot to say. Then we had half an hour for lunch and we walked to Starbucks and around the college and when we got back we continued the questions. It was a really fun day, not what I expected at all and I'd like to do it again.

Pray For Amy

Hip Hop

On the 27th of March we started doing hip hop for our TY Graduation Night. We do it with half of Belle every Friday for PE. Karen teaches us a dance to Ariana Grande "Break Free", the first week we got most of the dance done but then we had a two week break for easter and when we got back we went through it and went from there. She showed us the other school she taught the dance to for their TY night. We have most of it done now and our Graduation Night is coming up soon. We're all really excited for it and we hope it goes well. We have to pick out clothes for us all to wear on the night.

 Love you amy xx

Briery Gap Dramaaa

On Tuesday we went to Mullingar Arts Center to take part in a Briery Gap Drama Competition. We have been preparing these dramas since the beginning of the year, our class was split into 4 different groups and each group wrote a script for their play and thought of a story. It took a few weeks to decide on a story and to write the script, after we decided we put people into characters, at the start I was one of the main characters but on the day we had to perform the play i was sick and couldn't come in so Aoife took my part in the play and I think it worked out for the better in the end, I became the director. We worked really hard  on our play and put loads of effort into making it as good as we could, the time flew by and before we knew it the competition was here.
We came into school on Tuesday in our tracksuits and all the actors brought in their costumes and we got the bus from the school to Mullingar. When we got there we went downstairs to the dressing rooms and everyone started to do their makeup and get ready. When everyone was ready we followed them out to the stage and we talked to the sound guy and then we sta down and waited for the plays to start. We got to watch all the plays, when it came to our play I went up to the sound room with Amy and gave the man our cd with our sound on it and we told him what to do with the lights and sounds, when it was over everyone was really relieved because it went really well, the judge gave us feedback in the green room and then we went to McDonalds and got to watch the rest of the plays! It was a great day out!

Glow&Co

Today was our mini company competition in school. Our mini company was Glow&Co and we sold homemade scented candles. When we came into school this morning first thing we had to do was bring our product to the hall and start setting up our stall. We set up putting a white tablecloth down with different designs and sizes of our candles. We put posters up and lit a few candles making it look as bright and eye catching as possible. We were really worried because our mini company didn't do too well this year because of different reasons so we weren't really sure what to say to the judges for our  pitch so we were worried about that for most of the time. The first few groups that went had to pitch their idea in front of the whole year but then that was taking too long and nobody could here anyone so every group went individually to the library to talk to the judges about their mini company. When it came to our turn I didn't know what to say at the start but then it wasn't that bad and i think we actually enjoyed it!I really regret not putting more effort into our mini company because i think it could have done really well but because it took us so long to get our company up and running by the time we were ready the competition was just around the corner! I really enjoyed making and designing our candles though and I'm really happy that the day went well because we were all dreading it and we thought it would just be embarrassing! But it went well and we really enjoyed it.

What is your favourite TV programme?

Fashion Show

The St. Wolstan's 2014 Fashion Show launched on Tuesday night(the 25th of November) it was held in the Celbridge Manor Hotel the audience was huge on both nights, there was so many people there to see it! The show started at 8pm but everyone who was involved in the show in any way was asked to be there earlier to get ready and help out, me and a few of my friends were asked to video parts of the show on our phones and interview people who were involved to edit and put together for Ms. O' Callaghan, so we got  to go to the fashion show both nights and we got to video the whole thing! Both nights were really good, all the models looked gorgeous and the dancers and singers who were involved were amazing! It was a huge success and everyone really enjoyed themselves, some boys from Salesians came down to model evening and debs wear, everyone got involved! Teacher's aswell, modelling bridal wear as well as some students. The TY's got to set up tables and sell their mini company products throughout the night aswell. I hope the school does something like that again in the future because it was really fun and there was such  a lovely atmosphere around the school!
